What is Antiozonant?

The term antiozonant denotes any additive that protects rubber against ozone deterioration. Most frequently, the protective effect results from a reaction with ozone, in which case the term used is chemical antiozonant . The chemical antiozonants react with ozone through formation of an adduct and hence reduce its concentration in the vicinity of the rubber surface. Antiozonants are additives used in rubber to protect it against ozone deterioration. Antiozonants include both phosphite and sulfur compounds, epoxides, fatty acids and amines (amine antiozonants). Antiozonants are chemicals used to prevent the aging and staling of rubber products. They offer protection from ozone attack which causes cracking, hardness and other problems in rubber products. They are also used to improve flow properties, especially when amines are used as crosslinking agents during vulcanization. Antiozonants are materials that protect rubber against oxidation. The process of protecting against ozone is ref
