What is a Pump?

A pump is a mechanical device that moves fluids or slurries. It consists of a rotating mechanism driven by an engine, electric motor, steam power, etc., which provides the force required to move the fluid through pipes or tubes and onto its destination. The classic pump design, known as a reciprocating pump, is a positive-displacement machine: as long as the engine/ motor runs and there is liquid in the pump's source (reservoir), it keeps producing a flow of liquid at all times. If the engine stops, then no more liquid flows out.

If you want a pump for your water well, you have plenty of options. These pumps can be used to bore wells for water or for other liquids, such as sewage pumping. Many different kinds of pumps are available, but they all generally fall into one of three distinct groups: direct lift pumps, displacement pumps, and gravity pumps.

With a beautiful finish, this pump is the perfect addition to your garden for watering your plants. It will allow you to move 20 gallons of water per minute! Each of the three tubes at the end of the nozzle releases 8 gallons per minute, meaning you can make your life easier as you go out and tend to your garden. Because this device uses water pressure from a faucet or hose to function, there is no need for electricity and you won't have to worry about replacing batteries or cords.

Pumps move liquids and gases by various means, according to their construction. Some rely on positive effects of a stream of fast moving fluid striking a nozzle; others use the pressure potential due to differences in levels of fluids in containers; yet others use the movement of liquids and gases into or out of reservoirs (impellers) to create pressure differences sufficient to drive the flow by a narrow throat in one direction or the other. The pumps are hydraulic machines that are mainly designed for low viscosity fluids.
